Although pressure occurs between solid surface and boney prominence, it is important to remember, it can also occur anywhere! Pressure can happen quickly and progress rapidly, taking a long time to heal! As direct care staff it is important that you understand the risks. This 30 minute program was developed to assist you in identifying risk and initiating interventions to assist in preventing skin integrity issues.
Objectives:
- Identify areas of highest risk for skin breakdown
- Identify ways that direct care staff can assist in preventing pressure injuries
- Identify environmental factors that increase risk for impaired skin integrity
