Skin and Wound Management Module 4: Wound Care

There are many different types of skin conditions that we label “wounds” however there are distinct differences between a diabetic ulcer and a pressure ulcer. As such, interventions and treatment should be modified based on the type of wound being treated as well as prevention techniques that may assist in reducing the risk of developing wounds. This presentation will provide you with the information needed to implement an effective treatment and prevention program.

Objectives:

  • State the key components to the federal regulation F686
  • Identify key areas that are critical to reduce the risk of breakdown
  • Identify the components to a thorough risk assessment

She has been a Director of Nursing, Nursing Home Administrator, Executive Director, and Vice President of Operations. She holds a Registered Nurse License, Nursing Home Administrator License, and Assisted Living Director Certicate. She obtained an Associate's Degree in Nursing in 1993 and a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration in 2005 from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. She is experienced in clinical management, operations management, administration, policy and procedure development, and auditing and monitoring for compliance.  She most recently started her own independent consulting business for senior living operators and related providers in the senior living space.  She has multi-state experience in consulting.
