Post-acute care is not the same as acute care however, many residents and families have a difficult transition. Add to that the guilt factor, families may struggle with placing their loved on in a post-acute care facility. They may be in denial, they were likely faced with some catastrophic event that led to them moving to your center. Be sure your staff are trained to manage the behaviors of families and residents struggling with their new “home”. Education is the key and we need to support everyone involved.
Objectives
- Discuss how to identify challenging families
- Discuss how to educate staff to provide consistent messaging to families
- Give examples of behavioral interventions to manage challenging families
Attendees will be awarded 1.0 ANCC contact hours for completing the course/webinar.
