Range of motion (ROM) exercises are done to preserve flexibility and mobility of the joints on which they are performed. These exercises reduce stiffness and will prevent or at least slow down the freezing of joints as you age and move less often. Every joint in the body has a "normal" range of motion. Joints maintain their normal range of motion by being moved. Personalized Restorative ROM programs are intended to assist in maintaining “functional range of motion” to increase the resident’s independence with ALDs. This program was developed to assist you the caregiver in providing quality care to your residents with improving their overall outcomes and independence.
Objectives:
- Evaluate residents needs for a ROM program
- Design ROM activities
- Explore methods to increase ROM opportunities
Attendees will be awarded 0.75 ANCC contact hours for completing the course/webinar.
